Herding is a video piece based on work done by ’Reciprocal Sensing (Insensible sensibilities)’ group as a part of Bioart Society’s Field Notes 2018 – Ecology of Senses in Kilpisjärvi. During their time in Kilpisjärvi, the group conducted several exercises on how to experience the location and its’ ecosystem as a human herd. In these experiments, communication with words and talking, was not allowed and the members were encouraged to stay aware where the herd was. Instinctively, the herd wandered in searching food, then rested and lastly, played.

Herding premiered in Helsinki Artists’ Association media art exhibition called Impulse – the pulse, stimulus and vibration in Oodi library, Helsinki 26.10.12.11.2019.
Thank you Anna Puhakka and Eeva Muona for curating the exhibition.
