Holding Space with Trees is an introduction to inter-species forest communication. During the session, the participants will look for different kinds of tree species that might call for them and learn what kind of effects these trees have on people. In this workshop, the group will try to understand ecosystems around them not as a resource but as equal communities interdependent of each other. There is a tree leaf bathing ritual at the end of this session. The leafbathing was conducted in collaboration with Maaria Álen.

Holding Space with Trees was presented by Scottish Sculpture Workshop in the Edge Effects; a programme of workshops, walks, film and performance in Glasgow, in Centre for Contemporary Art and other locations around the city in 27. – 30.7.2017. Edge Effects mapped out artistic processes developed in response to seven international residency sites across Europe through Frontiers in Retreat, a 5-year long artist in residency programme that I had a pleasure to be a part of.
